AMD Ryzen Threadripper II to Launch August 13th

At Computex 2018 AMD announced it 32-core, 64-thread 2nd generation Ryzen Threadripper processor. Since then we learned that this processor will be built on the 12 nm process and will be called Ryzen Threadripper 2990X. According to the latest rumors AMD will be releasing these new processors on August 13th.

AMD will roll out Threadripper II with two models, which will be the Ryzen Threadripper 2990X and the Ryzen Threadripper 2950X. We know the 2990X will be the 32-core, 64-thread part. The 2950X has been rumored to be a 24-core, 48-core part.

As far as pricing goes the rumors put the 32-core 2990X at around $1500 with the 24-core 2950X being in the $1150 range.

We’ve already seen Gigabyte and MSI working on new X399 motherboards for these new high core count processors. We expect these to launch alongside the new Threadripper II parts.
