AMD Ryzen Threadripper NVMe RAID Is Blazing Fast!

If you thought we were done with news about Der8auer, you would be wrong. The German overclocker has taken to seeing just how fast he can move data, and has seen some amazing results from the combo of AMD’s Ryzen Threadripper and X399 chipset.

Armed with eight Samsung 960 PRO NVMe SSDs installed in what appears to be two ASUS Hyper Quad M.2 x16 expansion cards, and an ASUS X399 motherboard, Der8auer was able to see data transfer speeds of over 28GB per second when using Iometer.

While AMD does not support NVMe RAID with Threadripper at this point, they have stated that this feature will be coming in future updates to the ThreadRipper platform. This upcoming feature leads us to believe this is why he took his video about this experiment down on YouTube. Either way, 28GB/sec is crazy fast, albeit quite expensive. We look forward to AMD releasing support for NVMe RAID for Ryzen ThreadRipper, so these types of speeds become available to the masses.
