Navigating embargoes can be challenging. NVIDIA usually imposes multiple embargoes for each product, which can include restrictions on product disclosure, unboxing, reviews, and details about MSRP and non-MSRP models. In contrast, CPU launches are generally more straightforward because there aren’t custom CPUs to review. However, they still involve several embargoes, as seen with the Ryzen 9000 series.
For the Zen5 launch, AMD has established at least four embargoes. This count rises to five if reviews are considered and six if embargoes from board partners are included.
So far, AMD has enforced three embargoes for the Ryzen 9000 series, following events like Computex and Zen5 Tech Day earlier this month. Even though the last embargo was lifted on Monday, AMD still hasn’t disclosed pricing information. It’s uncertain when this information will be released, as even the launch date change announced yesterday caught everyone off guard, including reviewers.
The positive aspect is that the launch will be staggered, allowing reviewers more time to prepare their content. Additionally, reviews will be published a day before the official launch, giving readers ample time to make informed decisions. HardwareUnboxed confirmed this review embargo and mentioned that review samples have already been distributed.
It’s also important to note that this does not impact the launch of the mobile Zen5 series, the Ryzen AI 300 series, for which reviews are expected this week.
