Lenovo has introduced YOGA Portal Ultra Compact PC that competes directly with the Apple Mac Studio.

In China, a single configuration has been revealed and priced, which includes a Core i7-14700 processor and GeForce RTX 4070 graphics. However, the global version, known as the Neo Ultra, can be equipped with up to a Core i9-14900 processor and RTX 4060 graphics. Therefore, the Chinese model has a less powerful CPU but a more advanced GPU.

A key detail omitted in the initial report is that the graphics card is a full desktop version. Lenovo has utilized a desktop socket, enabling users to swap out the CPU within supported options, and included desktop-grade graphics. However, replacing the graphics card could be difficult or even impossible because of the custom cooling system designed for this compact form factor.

The Lenovo YOGA Portal, much like the ThinkCenter Neo Ultra, includes a dedicated M.2 slot for an additional NPU card (an AI accelerator in M.2 form factor). Users can also upgrade the memory and storage, offering a clear upgrade path from Lenovo that allows for potential upgrades or additions to the CPU, GPU, storage, and memory. However, there doesn’t seem to be a barebone version available, and the graphics are built into the system with no plans to offer the PC without them.

The PC is priced at 17,999 RMB, which is around $2,500 USD. This configuration comes with 32GB of RAM and 1TB of storage.
