ASRock Z490 PG Velocita Motherboard Review

Final Thoughts

Ahhh Z490 motherboards are here! In the ASRock product stack of boards the Z490 PG Velocita sits as the current flagship board in the Z490 Phantom Gaming line. Being that it is the top board in the Phantom Gaming line we are left a little disappointed. It has all of the features you would want in a Z490 motherboard, don’t get me wrong, but there is not much else.

I mean it does have a pretty hefty VRM and VRM cooling (3 fans), but its feature-set is pretty standard when it comes to Z490 motherboards. What we’ve seen from other manufacturers is them sort of sprinkle in high-end features into some of their mid-range and high end boards. Whether it be something like 5G or 10G LAN, WiFi, USB 3.2 gen 2×2, etc, but you really aren’t getting any of that here. For this being the current flagship motherboard in ASRock’s gaming line it just does not compare to other flagship gaming boards. Now I am not sure if ASRock plans on releasing a Gaming X like we saw with Z390, but hopefully we see a more high-end Z490 board in the future.

The board does look great and it is going to give you features like 2.5G Ethernet, USB 3.2 gen 2, a 12-phase power design, extensive VRM cooling, and of course RGB lighting. One thing that is interesting about this board is that it is Gen4 ready for when Rocket Lake-S processors come along.

Now ASRock has not priced this like a high-end board so we can’t really say much bad about it, currently it is selling at our favorite online retailer for $259.99. Overall ThinkComputers give the ASRock Z490 PG Velocita Motherboard an 8 out of 10 score.
