ASRock Z790 Taichi Motherboard Review

Right now seems like the perfect time to build a new PC. We have new processors from both Intel and AMD as well as new graphics cards from the usual suspects. On top of that there really is no shortage of parts either, so you can easily build or upgrade your system without having to worry if your local PC shop or online store has the part you are looking for. With Intel introducing their 13th generation Raptor Lake processors we have the brand new Z790 chipset. Today we are going to take a look at ASRock’s flagship Z790 motherboard, the Z790 Taichi! This board features a 24+1+2 power phase design, PCI-Express 5.0 support for both graphics and storage, USB 3.2 gen 2×2 support, WiFi 6E, and of course that cool Taichi design we know from ASRock! Is this the board you need for your new Raptor Lake system? Read on as we find out!

Packaging

The Z790 Taichi comes in ASRock’s typical motherboard packaging. On the front it simply says “Z790 Taichi” and on the back some of the main features are detailed.

The front of the box is actually opens up so you can get a good look at the board itself. As far as accessories go you’ll get four SATA cables, a USB bracket, WiFi antenna, two Velcro straps, an ASRock keycap, M.2 screws, an ASRock post card, and the user’s manual.
