ASUS P8P67 WS Revolution Intel P67 Motherboard Review

Overclocking
By default the Core i5-2500K has a clock speed of 3.3GHz, lets see how far we can push it! With many of the new motherboards there are a few different ways to overclock.  The first one we are going to explore with the P8P67 WS Revolution is the Auto Tuning feature.  I decided to select the fast setting.  The system rebooted a few times and came out with an overclock of 4.326GHz, which is a 31% overclock!  This was all done with software and no tweaking on my end at all.

Going into the BIOS is the way many people overclock and the way that gives you the most options.  By default the CPU ratio is at auto or 33.  I first moved it up to 40 to get the CPU up to 4.0GHz.  This was done without any other adjustments.  To test how stable the system was I ran Prime 95, 3DMark Vantage and Super Pi all at the same time.  After I knew the system was stable I started moving up in 100MHz intervals.  I got stuck at 4.5GHz, then I bumped up the CPU voltage to 1.40, that allowed me to get up to 4.7GHz.  The system would boot at 4.8GHz, but when I went to do anything it would blue screen.  The system was completely stable at 4.7GHz and temperatures did not get out of control that much either!  This is the highest overclock I have been able to achieve with my Core i5-2500K processor, this really shows the stability of this board.  A 1.4GHz overclock on air is not that bad at all!

I’m sure I could have pushed the system even further if I changed the BCLK frequency, but I kept it at 100.  Due to time constraints I was not able to spend more than a day overclocking the system, but from what I experienced with this board I am very impressed!
