ASUS R9 270X DirectCU II TOP Video Card Review

Final Thoughts
Just like we said with ASUS’s 280X version there are many different 270X cards out there so is this a good choice? We sure think so! The ASUS R9 270X DirectCU II TOP features a nice factory overclock up to 1120 MHz from the reference 1050 MHz. Beyond that ASUS includes their DirectCU II cooler, quality components and tuning software that actually works!

Talking about the DirectCU II it is one of the best video card cooling solutions in the industry. The DirectCU II cooler on the R9 270X makes use of 2 cooling fans, a large aluminum heatsink and multiple heatpipes. This will keep your GPU 20% cooler than AMD’s reference cooler and the heatsink actually has 125% more dissipation area. The cooler is also much more quiet than the AMD reference design.

ASUS also makes use of a DIGI+ VRM design that makes use of digital voltage regulators to minimize power noise by 30%, enhance power efficiency by 15%, widen voltage modulation tolerance, and improve overall stability and longevity by 2.5 times over reference. This also means your card will be more stable if you plan on overclocking.

ASUS’s GPU Tweak software has evolved over the past year or so into a really useful piece of software. It allows you to easily monitor and tune your card to your liking. You can save and load profiles as well.

Right now you can pick up this card at my favorite online retailer for $219.99, which puts it on par with many other R9 270X cards. Overall ThinkComputers gives the ASUS R9 270X DirectCU II TOP video card a 9 out of 10 score and our Recommended Award.
