ASUS ROG Zephyrus Duo SE 15 Leaked With Ryzen 9 5980HX Zen 3 CPU

It looks like ASUS will be the first and probably the only one to use AMD’s Ryzen 9 5980HX processor in one of its laptops as fans discovered a ROG Zephyrus Duo SE 15 listing on Newegg this week. However, the retailer shows the laptop as out of stock.

In comparison to the locked Ryzen 9 5980HS, the Ryzen 9 5980HX is an unlocked processor with a 45-watt TDP. It operates on a base clock speed of 3.3GHz whereas the Ryzen 9 5980HS has a 3.0 GHz base clock speed. Unfortunately, it still has an 8-core and 16-thread processor and supports up to LPDDR4-4266 memory while boosting up to 4.8GHz.

As far as the laptop’s features are concerned, it features a 15.6 inch primary IPS display which offers Full HD (1920×1080) resolution with a  300MHz refresh rate. As the word DUO suggests, the laptop has a secondary “ROG ScreenPad Plus” 14-inch touch display and is mounted above the keyboard. The secondary screen can be used in supported games or for enhancing the multitasking experience.

This specific SKU is being offered with a  GeForce RTX 3060 GPU. However, ASUS says that it can be configured with up to a GeForce RTX 3080 and a 120Hz 4K display. A 16GB DDR4-3200 RAM  (32GB maximum) and a 1TB PCIe 3.0 SSD is also offered. ASUS also provides easy access to upgrading the memory and the SSD.

The laptop also features ROG Intelligent Cooling thermal system with Active Aerodynamic System Plus and Thermal Grizzly Liquid Metal thermal compound, ROG Aura Sync with per-key RGB keyboard, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.1, and a 30-day free trial of Xbox Game Pass for PC.
