be quiet! Shadow Rock Slim 2 CPU Cooler Review

be quiet! Shadow Rock Slim 2 Overview

Taking a first look at the cooler it is much smaller than some of the other coolers we’ve taken a look at lately. It has official dimensions of 74mm x 137mm x 161mm (LxWxH) and weighs in at 690 grams.

On the front of the cooler is the 135 mm cooling fan. This is be quiet’s SIW3-13525-MR-PWM which is a PWM fan with a rifle bearing and has a max speed of 1400 RPM. Not much else is known about this fan.

Looking at the cooler from the side we can really see how thin the heatsink stack is. It is only 52mm thick and when you install the fan it goes up to 74mm. This means you really shouldn’t run into any issues with RAM clearance.

Taking a closer look at the heatsink itself we have an aluminum fin stack made up of 52 fins. The fins are interesting as they are actually not flat, the have a slight curve to them which gives them a bit more surface area. More surface area is of course better for heat dissipation.

At the top of the cooler we have a brushed aluminum cap which has a small be quiet! logo on it.

Flipping the cooler over there are four 6mm-thick copper heatpipes. These heatpipes will actually make direct contact with your CPU and go up into each side of the heatsink in a square pattern.
