About a year ago we took a look at Razer’s Viper Ultimate and it proved to be a great wireless gaming mouse. With it only being 74g, having great performance and battery life it earned a 10 out of 10 score and our Recommended Award! Well Razer is back with the Viper V2 Pro, which as the same suggests is really geared towards the pro. Razer was able to get the weight of this wireless mouse down to 58g, which is really impressive for a wireless mouse. Gone is the charging dock, RGB lighting, and Razer made a bunch of other tweaks to not only bring the weight down but improve overall feel and performance. You do get Razer’s new Focus Pro 30K optical sensor, their Gen3 optical mouse switches, and a lighter more efficient battery. Is this the ultimate lightweight wireless mouse? Read on as we find out!
Special thanks to Razer for providing the Viper V2 Pro Wireless Gaming Mouse to review.
Specifications vs Viper Ultimate
The Viper V2 Pro comes in Razer’s typical retail packaging. On the front of the box there is a picture of the mouse and some of the main features are listed. Flipping over to the back there is another picture and even more features are detailed.
Getting everything out of the box we have the Razer V2 Pro Mouse, USB-C to USB-A cable, wireless USB dongle + dongle adapter, a set of mouse grips, user’s guide, and a registration card.
The included cable is Razer’s Speedflex cable, which is very lightweight. The included cable can be used to charge the mouse, use it in wired mode, or can be used with the dongle adapter. Unlike the Viper Ultimate which has rubber side grip, Razer has decided to make the grips optional. So you have grips for the sides as well as the two main buttons. These grips add about 0.4-0.5g of weight per piece.
