Cooler Master Hyper 212 RGB Black Edition Overview
Just like previous Hyper 212 coolers the Hyper 212 RGB Black Edition is not all that large. It has official dimensions of 120(L) x 79.6(W) x 158.8(H) mm. Being this small makes it very compatible with most systems. This is the Black Edition of the cooler so the entire cooler is black, which looks pretty awesome actually.
Starting at the front of the cooler we have the included 120 mm fan, which is the Cooler Master SF120R RGB. This fan will run anywhere from 650 – 2000 RPM, was a max airflow of 57.3 CFM, air pressure of 2.0 mmH2O, and a noise level of 8-30 dBA. As you can see it has a black frame with clear blades. There are four RGB LEDs in the center of the fan which will light it up.
From the side we can see this is a single-tower cooler and the heatsink tower is not all that thick. Instead of using typical fan clips we see on many coolers Cooler Master is using fan brackets, which should make removing and installing fans much easier.
At the rear of the cooler we can get a better look at the heatsink and the four heatpipes that go up into it in a “U” design. Cooler Master is using a stacked fin array, which allows for very little airflow resistance so air can freely flow into the heatsink.
The top of the heatsink is capped off and the cover is brushed aluminum with the Cooler Master logo in the center. This will of course show out if you have a case that has a side panel window.
Flipping the cooler over to the bottom we can see the four heatpipes. These heatpipes are nickel-plated copper and are designed to make direct contact with your CPU. Taking a look at the base this is one of the best implimentations we’ve seen of direct-contact technology. There are hardly any gaps between the heatpipes.
