Probably one of the most iconic and most-used air CPU cooler ever was the Cooler Master Hyper 212. It was inexpensive, easy to install, small and compatible with pretty much any case and motherboard, and the most important thing…it performed well! Well Cooler Master is bringing life back to this iconic cooler with an entire line of Hyper 212 products. Today we are checking out the Hyper 212 RGB Black Edition. This cooler features four nickel-plated copper heatpipes, a single tower design, a 120 mm RGB cooling fan, and Cooler Master has made the entire cooler black. At only $34.99 at our favorite online retailer this cooler is definitely low cost, but can it live up to its expectations? Read on as we find out!
The Hyper 212 RGB Black Edition comes in Cooler Master’s typical retail packaging. On the front we have a photo of the cooler and it lets us know that it does come with an RGB controller and that the RGB fan is compatible with all major motherboard RGB software. Flipping over to the back we have some of the main features of the cooler listed in a few different languages and a diagram showing the dimensions of the cooler.
Looking at the sides of the box we are given more details on the Direct Contact Technology, the heatsink, and the RGB controller. On the final side there is a full list of specifications. If you were at the store you would have more than enough information on the cooler to make an informed purchase.
Getting everything out of the box we of course have the Hyper 212 RGB Black Edition cooler with the fan attached, mounting hardware for both Intel and AMD systems, extra fan mounts if you want to add a second fan, a Y-splitter if for an extra fan, and a user’s manual.
