Cooler Master MasterBox TD500 Mesh V2 Case Review

A Look Inside

Getting inside the MasterBox TD500 Mesh V2 is quite easy. The main side panel does have a locking screw on the back of the case, but once you remove it you simply pull on the panel from the back and it will release and sort of just sit there. This allows you to simply pull it up and off the case and makes it so the panel doesn’t drop and scratch up your desk or break. With the main side panel removed we can see we have a pretty standard two compartment design.

The top larger compartment is made to house your motherboard and will support motherboards up to E-ATX (up to 12″ x 10.7″ motherboards, may impact cable management feature). There are plenty of cable routing holes visible in the motherboard tray with three of the larger ones having inserts installed.

Separating the two compartments of the case is a full-length power supply cover. There is a cut-out towards the front if you were planning on installing a radiator. There is also a cut-out to show off your power supply, but by default there is a cover there if your power supply isn’t show off worthly.

Looking at our expansion slot covers they do use regular screws, but at least they are not the cheap slot covers which you have to bend off the case. There is also a large CPU cutout in the motherboard tray and all of the standoffs are preinstalled.

Taking the opposite side panel off of the case we can see how the rest of the case is designed. The first thing I noticed when I removed the second side panel was the fan hub / ARGB controller. This controller supports up to four fans and five 3-pin addressable ARGB signals. As I mentioned earlier the three included fans are pre-wired to this controller so the case is pretty much good to go out of the box. There are two mounts on the back of the motherboard tray for 2.5-inch solid state drives as well as plenty of tie-down points for all of your cable routing needs.

The bottom compartment of the case will house your power supply and has a hard drive cage, which is removable. This hard drive cage supports two 3.5-inch drives as well as a single 2.5-inch drive so if you fully loaded this case out it would support 5 drives.
