Corsair Carbide Series 678C Case Review

Corsair 678C Overview

Taking a first look at the Corsair 678C you can see that we received the black version of the case, it is also available in a white version as well. With the official dimension of 549mm x 239mm x 497mm it is definitely on the larger side of a mid tower case. The case itself is mainly made of steel.

Starting at the front of the case we have an all flat front door. While initially you might thing this door is aluminum, it is plastic. There is a small Corsair logo towards the bottom of the door. This door opens up to reveal a few things. First at the top you have a 5.25-inch drive bay, you might think this is weird to see, but seeing who this case is marketed to it makes sense. Below that is a large ventilated section with a 140 mm fan installed and a removable filter. The front of the case supports three 120 mm fans or two 140 mm fans as well as radiators up to 360 mm. With the front door open you can access the bottom filter on the case, which pulls out from the front. This filter extends the entire length of the case. From those wondering the front door is held closed by magnets, so you don’t have to worry about it swinging open when you pick your system up. There is also sound-dampening material installed on the inside of the door.

Looking at the side of the case there is a very large tempered glass side panel, which will allow you to show off your hardware inside. The opposite side panel is your typical standard panel.

At the top of the case there is a large ventilated section, but it is has a covered on it, which is lined with sound-dampening material. This cover easily comes off to reveal a magnetic filter, which is also easily removed. The top of the case comes with another pre-installed 140 mm fan. The top of the case supports three 120 / 140 mm fans as well as radiators up to 420 mm. Towards the front of the case you’ll find a few buttons and connections which include an combination HD audio jack, USB type-C port, two USB 3.0 ports, hard drive activity LED, small reset button, and a larger power button.

Moving around to the back of the case we have a pretty standard layout. At the top we have our third pre-installed 140 mm fan. The spot can support a 120 mm fan too. Then we have our seven expansion slots, vertical GPU mount slots, and the power supply mount as at the bottom. If you want to install your GPU vertically you will need to buy your own riser cable etc.
