Corsair Carbide Series 678C Case Review

Installation

Starting off our installation we installed our motherboard, which is the ASUS Prime X570-PRO. This ATX motherboard had no problem fitting in the case, but it was a little concerning how the bottom of the motherboard was almost flush with the power supply cover.

The next thing to install is our hard drives. First our SSD just slides right in the SSD mount. The our 3.5-inch drive we have to remove one of the trays, install our drive, and then re-install the tray. Installation of both drives was quite easy and pretty straight-forward.

Our power supply is next, it easily slides in from the backside of the case and mounts via screws on the back of the case. If you are using a modular power supply be sure to connect all of your cables before you install as your connections might be a little hard to access once your have the power supply installed.

Now it is time to route all of our cables and organize things. Most of the cables on the backside of the case are actually organized for you, I only had to use two if the included zip ties to tidy things up.

Moving around to the other side of the case the last thing that we need to install in our graphics card. Corsair has designed the case so you put your screwdriver through holes in the case to access to access the expansion slots. So be sure you have a long enough screw drive. We installed our RX 5700 XT no problem in the case with plenty of room to spare.

With everything installed we have a very clean build. I do wish that Corsair gave the motherboard a little bit more space at the bottom. As I mentioned it sits flush with the power supply cover and that makes connecting all of your headers a little hard.

Putting the side panel back on and powering up our system we can see the RGB elements quite well, but if you want to really light this case up I would suggest some RGB strips.
