Deepcool Maelstrom 240 AIO Liquid CPU Cooler Review

Deepcool Maelstrom 240 Overview
Once removed from the shipping elements, you will find a nice selection of parts and accessories, a manual, a product guide, and the cooler itself.

As mentioned we have compatibility from Intel 1366 and forward as well as AMD AM2 and forward. As well as the necessary mounting hardware for the CPU and two fans, we find a Gamer Storm case badge as well.

One thing I didn’t expect to find but was pleasantly surprised to find was a Gamer Storm branded fan splitter. We originally encountered this excellent PWM splitter way back during our first DeepCool review of the Neptwin. We were delighted with how well it functioned as well as it’s appearance and size. And ready to utilize this compact fan hub is a pair of Gamer Storm GF 120 fans. From their sound dampening rubber coated frames to the removable blades we found these PWM fans to be an excellent match for the 120 and expect nothing less for the 240.

Moving to the cooler itself, we of course find the same pump from the 120 reimplemented here for the 240. It has a nice low profile rounded shape and is topped with the Gamer Storm backlit logo that fades in and out. One side has the inlet and outlet ports attached to FEP tubing. The tubing itself is rather stiff and not too eye catching, but does the job of not collapsing even under tight bends. For power the pump as a 3 pin connector coming out of the side adjacent to the inlet/outlet ports.

The base of the pump is a copper cold plate with thermal paste already installed. The business side of this heat exchanger is covered in 0.2mm high micro channels while the coolant is moved by a unique pump complete with zirconia ceramic bearings rated for an estimated 120,000 hours of operation.

The radiator is an oversized version of the one in the 120. It is complete with a matching thickness of a mere 27mm and a pretty dense FPI to make up for how thin the radiator is. Unfortunately ours arrived with a good sized dent in the middle of the fins. We were able to bend them back mostly straight, but this is not something you like to see and we hope this is being considered in relation to packaging. The other side is thankfully blemish free.
