Deepcool Steam Castle Case Review

Final Thoughts
I really liked the Steam Castle when I was first shown it at CES back in January and after having it for a few weeks and installing a system in it I still do like it very much. The design of this case really does catch the eye. I remember years ago when so many case manufacturers had themed cases, but it seems lately we have not seen that. It is good to see Deepcool, a newer company in the PC Case space do this. The steampunk look is great, but is something you are either going to like or hate. The addition of the light-up steam vents at the top of the case really does add to the steampunk look as well.

When it comes to the interior I do have to point out that this case is identical to the Aerocool DS Cube and Xigmatek Aquila. It looks like they have used the same OEM manufactuer on this one. In any case I really do like this design. It puts the motherboard horizontal instead of vertical which opens a lot of room. For instance you do have room for CPU coolers up to 200 mm in height and graphics cards 320 mm in length. I also had no issues installing a 120 mm AiO liquid CPU cooler. With the abundance of space you can really load this case up and as I mentioned it does support both micro-ATX and mini-ITX motherboards.

Personally I did not like the placement of the connections and buttons on the side panel of the case. The cables are not all that long and if you need to open this side of the case it means you are going to have to keep the panel close. Also on my Steam Castle and two others that I know of the actual panel that holds these connections and buttons did break. I was able to fix mine with tape, but this shouldn’t happen.

As of writing Deepcool does offer this case in black (matte), white, yellow and red versions. They are selling for $89.99 at our favorite online retailer, which is a price you cannot argue with. Overall ThinkComputers gives the Deepcool Steam Castle Case an 8 out of 10 score.
