ECS Z87H3-A2X Extreme Motherboard Revealed

All motherboard manufactures are preparing their Z87 motherboards for Intel’s upcoming Haswell processor launch, which will happen at Computex in June. Today we know what the top gaming motherboard from ECS will be. It is the Z87H3-A2X Extreme and it does look quite impressive!

The ECS Z87H3-A2X will feature a gold-plated solid-state capacitors and a 12-phase electrical VRM. The VRM is cooled by ECS’s CoolTech V heatsink design. This heatsink is actually quite large and has a red and silver design. It makes use of a heatpipe that connects to the “Lynx Point” PCH on the board. The PCH is covered by another heatsink that has the “L337 Gaming” logo on it meaning this board is designed for gamers and enthusiasts.

As far as expansion slots go you have three PCI Express 3.0 x16 slots, one PCI Express 3.0 x1 slot and a single legacy PCI slot. You also have an mSATA slot which is situated under the PCH heatsink. You have 7 SATA III connectors for additional storage. On the bottom-right of the board you will find voltage measurement points, a debug LED, and other various overclocking switches.

When it comes to connections you have eight USB 3.0 ports, Dual LAN ports, SPDIF, Clear CMOS, HDMI, Displayport and 8.1 channel audio, which is powered by Sound Blaster Cinema. The board also has a dual-BIOS and can be easily switched between both BIOS’s using a switch on the board. Expect to learn more about the board as it gets closer to Computex.
