Setup and Software
There are two ways to set up the E900 Pro. The first and easier of the two is to attach the 3.5mm cable, plug it into your device of choice and go. The second is to attach the USB Type-C cable and plug it into your computer. Then, go to https://www.eksa.net/pages/download and download the software. There are two different downloads, the old version, and the new version. For the sample we received, we had to use the old version of the software. The box will tell you if the new version is required.
If you don’t have a microphone you already use, you can attach the included boom microphone that comes packed with the E900 Pro. For the purposes of this review, the mic was attached for testing purposes. More on that later. The EKSA software is straight forward and easy to use. In order to take advantage of this software, you must use the included USB Type-C cable. The software has four sections. These sections are EQ, Effects, Mic, and Virtual 7.1. We’ll now go through each section and its functionality.
When you open the EKSA software, there is an image of the E900 to the left. Across the top of the screen, there are three buttons, Save, Load, and About. The save and load buttons are for saving or loading profiles. There is also a deactivate device option to the right. Below the save and load buttons, there are buttons to turn the equalizer on and off, as well as a button to enable or disable the 3D sound on your E900 Pro. There is also a reset button that will set everything in the software back to default. The EKSA Software allows you to set four different profiles for your E900 Pro.
The first section in the EKSA software is the EQ section. This is an equalizer that allows you to adjust multiple frequencies between 60 Hz and 12000 Hz. When you have settings that you like, just click the save button to save your profile.
The Effects section has four different effects you can set for your E900 Pro, each with a distinct sound. These effects are Theater, Bathroom, Living Room, and Corridor.
The next section is the Mic section. Here you can mute your mic. There is also a button that says custom button. However, I’m not positive what this button actually does. There is also a gain control slider that goes from 0-100.
The last section of the EKSA E900 Pro software is the Virtual 7.1 Surround Sound section. This is my favorite feature of the E900 Pro. Here, you can enable or disable the Virtual 7.1 surround sound. But that’s not all. There are two buttons in this section labeled CW and CCW respectively. What these buttons do is rotate the 7.1 surround sound either clockwise or counterclockwise. So, you can actually set the virtual speakers to be in any position around you, 360°.
