Final Fantasy XIV Could Come To Nintendo Switch 2

The Nintendo Switch 2 might eventually feature one of the most popular MMORPGs ever, Final Fantasy XIV, but this would likely happen sometime after the console’s release. In an interview with Easy Allies, Final Fantasy XIV producer Naoki Yoshida discussed the potential for the game to come to Nintendo’s next console. Yoshida expressed that he has dreamed for over a decade of making the game accessible to as many players as possible, regardless of the platform. While the development team is eager to bring the game to a Nintendo platform, it will take time. Yoshida pointed out that the Xbox Series X|S version of the game came years after initial discussions with Microsoft, so Final Fantasy XIV shouldn’t be expected near the Nintendo Switch 2’s launch.

Regarding third-party support, the next Nintendo console is expected to receive a substantial amount of it during its initial years. Jacob Stutton, co-founder of Infuse Studio, mentioned that developers will not face difficulties supporting the system, as they already consider the Xbox Series S in their development plans. However, this situation may shift once next-generation consoles are released, as the Nintendo Switch 2’s specifications will be significantly lower, requiring developers to make compromises to ensure their games run on the system.

The Nintendo Switch 2 has not been officially revealed yet, but more information is expected to be released in the coming months.
