Currently G.Skill’s fastest DDR5 memory with AMD EXPO is the DDR5-6400 kit. In comparison, Intel XMP-based kits in G.Skill’s product range can reach speeds up to 8400 MT/s. EXPO, which stands for AMD Extended Profiles for Overclocking, is a specific profile designed for Ryzen systems, tested and verified by memory manufacturers.

With the introduction of the Ryzen 9000 series, AMD has prioritized faster DDR5 memory support. The latest AGESA update now includes support for DDR5-8000 profiles, and motherboards are beginning to or have already received support for on-the-fly memory overclocking. Notably, these enhancements are being rolled out to all existing AM5 consumer chipsets, meaning that the new speeds will be compatible with current AMD 600-series boards.
Today, G.Skill is launching their top-of-the-line Trident Z5 Royal Neo memory kit, which includes two 16GB modules (totaling 32GB) with timings of CL38-48-48-128. This kit is designed to run at DDR5-8000 speeds and operate in 1:2 clock divider mode in the BIOS. G.Skill has not provided any additional information about other series getting EXPO 8000 MT/s profiles. The Royal series, being the priciest in G.Skill’s lineup, might not appeal to all customers.

The memory is set to launch in August 2024, though pricing details are still unknown. G.Skill doesn’t provide a 2x16GB DDR5-8000 kit for Intel/XMP platforms, but a 2x24GB kit is available for $279.
