G.SKILL KM250 RGB Mechanical Gaming Keyboard Review

G.SKILL KM250 RGB Overview

Taking a first look at the KM250 we can see that we have the pretty standard 65% layout. Unlike a 60% design the 65% design gives you your arrow keys, which I think many people appreciate. For those wondering about actual size here are the official dimensions of the keyboard, 327.2 x 114 x 39.2mm and it weighs in at 1.51 lbs. G.SKILL is only offering the keyboard in black.

The 65% layout is a favorite of many people as it gives them all of the keys they need plus a couple of extras. Here we have a 67-key design so we have a full compliment of keys, as well as our arrow keys, three keys on the far right (Del, Page Up, Page Down) and a sleek volume knob. This volume knob not only allows you to adjust the volume up or down, it also can be pressed in to mute.

One thing that really stands out about this keyboard are the keycaps. G.SKILL is making use of PBT pudding-style keycaps. For one PBT keycaps feel so much better than the typical ABS keycaps you find on most gaming keyboards. They also do not show shine and wear like those keycaps. Having them be pudding-style is really going to show off the RGB lighting on this board, which will get into a little later in this review.

Under these keycaps you’ll find the mechanical key switches. G.SKILL has gone with the Kailh Red linear switches, which mimic Cherry MX Reds. This keyboard is full hot-swappable so you can remove the switches and add different switches down the line if you wanted to. As I mentioned earlier G.SKILL does provide the keycap and switch puller.

On the top edge of the keyboard you’ll find a single USB-C connection, which is centrally located.

Looking at the keyboard from the side we can see that the keys are already set at and angle, but there are two more adjustments thanks to the pop-out feet on the bottom of the keyboard. Also on the bottom of the keyboard you’ll find four rubber feet that will keep the keyboard in place on your desk.
