Galaxy is a name that we know for some of the best graphics cards available, especially in their Hall of Fame series. Well they are announcing a new PCI-Express solid state drive as part of their Hall of Fame series. The Heracles HOF is geared towards gamers who want the fastest speeds possible and this solid state drive has some of the fastest speeds out there!
The Galaxy Heracles PCIe SSD is powered by a custom JMicron JMF811 controller that was specially developed for Galaxy. Not all of the details are known about this drive, but we do know it communicates via the PCIe 2.0 x4 connection and has sequential read and write speeds of 1600 MB/s. The drive will come in capacities of 1 TB, 2TB and 4 TB. With these large capacities you can expect the drive to have a hefty price tag, but for those who want the fastest speed possible it will be worth it.
Like other HOF products from Galaxy this drive will feature the same white PCB the gamers love. The drive will come with an attractive plastic casing on the top, we are not sure if it will have active or passive cooling. The Heracles HOF PCIe SSD is expected to be released in Q2 of 2015, but expect more details as we get closer to CES in January.
