Final Thoughts
When we started this review we said this card should easily be worth the extra $20 it costs over reference cards. After our testing we would definitely have to agree with that. First you get a very nice overclock up to 1815 MHz (vs 1650 MHz reference). This is one of the largest overclocks that we’ve seen for a 2060 Super and is definitely going to give you a few extra frames in games.

Next Gigabyte has outfitted the card with their triple-fan WindForce 3X cooler. It kept the card under 70C most of the time and was very quiet in doing so. Even during our load test the fans could barely be heard. The fans will also turn off when the card is not under load, which is great for noise as well as power consumption. I also like that with the design of the WindForce 3X cooler they did not make the card more than 2 slots. We’ve seen many 2.5-slot cards and Gigabyte is able to pack in a 3-fan cooler into a true 2-slot design.

When it comes to performance this card is great for 1080p gaming at high frame rates and 1440p gaming at 70-90 FPS. If you bump your settings down just a bit you could even do 4K gaming at over 60 FPS. The cards competition is the newly released AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT. At the time of the review we do not have one on hand, but we can tell you that the card did beat the RX 5700 (non-XT) at most games and benchmarks. One thing that the RTX 2060 Super has that the RX 5700 and RX 5700 XT does not is real time ray tracing and DLSS. While not all games support these features just yet, ray tracing will definitely make your game look better (at a performance hit) and DLSS will improve performance. So those are some things to think about.

So for $419.99 you are getting a RTX 2060 Super that is clocked higher than the stock card, has a great cooling solution, and even RGB lighting. I think that if you are looking at buying an RTX 2060 Super, Gigabyte’s RTX 2060 Super Gaming OC 8G is a very solid choice. Overall ThinkComputers gives the Gigabyte GeForce RTX 2060 Super Gaming OC 8G Graphics Card a 9 out of 10 score and our Recommended Award!
