RTX 2060 Super Gaming OC 8G Overview
Taking a first look at this card the thing that stands out is that Gigabyte has gone with their triple-fan WindForce 3X cooling solution. This is a great cooling solution, but it does make the card pretty long. The card is 280.35 mm long, which shouldn’t be an issue for most cases, but in some small form factor cases you might have a clearance issue.
The WindForce 3X cooling solution is made up of three 80 mm cooling fans, which actually spin in different directions. 3-fan cooling solutions where the fans spin in the same direction cause turbulent airflow which reduces heat dissipation efficiency. So what Gigabyte has done is turn the middle fan in the opposite direction, so that the airflow between the two fans is the same, reducing the turbulence and enhancing the airflow pressure.
Under the fans you have a triple-section aluminium heatsink with four large copper heatpipes, which will make direct contact with the GPU. There is also a heatsink that sits on top of the VRAM and MOSFETs for added cooling.
Taking a look at the card from the side we can see that it is a true 2-slot card. We’ve seen many of these crazy cooling solutions be 2.5 or the odd 2.7 slot cards, but the RTX 2060 Super Gaming OC 8G is a true 2-slot card. On the side that will show up from your case there is a Gigabyte logo, which will light up with RGB lighting when you have your system powered on. The card is powered by a combination of 8-pin + 6-pin PCI-Express power connectors, which sit towards the end of the card.
Flipping the card over to the back we can see the full-cover backplate with the Gigabyte logo in the center. This is a true metal backplate, which will not only help with cooling, but will also help the card from sagging.
As far as connections go on the card you have three DisplayPort and a single HDMI. There is also a Type-C VirtualLink connection for VR headsets. Some AIBs have removed this connection, but Gigabyte has decided to keep it.
