It has been quite a while since we’ve taken a look at a graphics card and when it comes to NVIDIA’s RTX 40 series the only card we did not take a look at initially was their RTX 4070 Super. This of course came as part of NVIDIA’s refresh of the original RTX 40 series. When NVIDIA first launched their RTX 4070 and RTX 4070 Ti there was quite the performance gap between the two and AMD did take advantage of that with their Radeon RX 7800 XT. NVIDIA of course wants you to choose them in that price / performance segment so now we have the RTX 4070 Super. This card makes use of the same AD104 silicon as the RTX 4070, but brings with it a lot more performance. That is because you have 56 out of the 60 streaming multiprocessors (SM) on the AD104 enabled, instead of the 46 you had on the RTX 4070. This gives you 7168 CUDA cores, 224 Tensor cores, 56 RT cores, 224 TMUs, as well as 48 MB of L2 cache. The memory remains the same so you are getting 12GB of GDDR6X running across a 192-bit bus. Today we are taking a look at the Gigabyte GeForce RTX 4070 Super Gaming OC 12G card specifically which does have an overclock on the GPU boost clock of 2565 MHz (Reference card: 2475 MHz), Gigabyte’s WINDFORCE cooling system, and of course some RGB lighting!

Packaging of the Gigabyte GeForce RTX 4070 Super Gaming OC 12G Graphics Card
The RTX 4070 Super Gaming OC 12G comes in Gigabyte’s standard retail packaging. On the front it does let us know we do indeed have the RTX 4070 Super and that this card is the OC Edition and comes with a 4 year warranty.
Flipping over to the back many of the main features of the card are detailed including the WINDFORCE cooling system, RGB fusion lighting, and the full metal backplate.
Getting everything out of the box we have the card itself, a dual 8-pin to 12VHPRW power cable, and a user’s guide.
