Just before Computex, GPD unveiled a new laptop equipped with the Ryzen 8000 series processor. This laptop includes two 13.3-inch OLED displays. Unlike most dual-screen laptops, it has two equally sized screens and a physical keyboard, setting it apart from dual-screen tablets with detachable keyboards and the ASUS Duo series, which features a secondary screen that’s only half the height of the main display.

At Computex, GPD announced that the laptop would be powered by the AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 APU. This upgrade includes the latest Zen 5 architecture, additional CPU and GPU cores, and a major NPU enhancement with the XDNA2 processor. The company also stated that the laptop has a 60W TDP setting, likely in higher power mode. Today, GPD confirmed that the DUO will be released next month.

The GPD DUO comes with two 13.3-inch screens, each boasting a resolution of 2880×1800 and a 60 Hz refresh rate. GPD states that these OLED panels use LTPS technology, making them extremely thin and capable of stylus input via the MPP protocol. The screens offer color gamut coverage of 133% sRGB, 96% NTSC, 100% Adobe RGB, and 100% DCI-P3, with a peak brightness of 500 nits.

The upper, secondary screen supports USB Type-C video input from mobile devices and PCs, with a list of compatible devices available on the GPD website. This allows users to use both screens at the same time, even if one isn’t connected to the main unit. A keyboard shortcut lets users switch the secondary screen on and off, while the main screen is controlled by the power button or power plan settings.

The DUO features non-upgradable LPDDR5X memory running at 7500 MT/s, available in 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB capacities. Users need to select their preferred memory capacity at purchase since it can’t be upgraded later. However, the storage is upgradable, with three M.2 slots in total. Two of these slots support the 2280 form factor and only single-sided modules, adhering to PCIe 4.0×4 specifications and supporting up to 4TB.

The DUO lacks a fingerprint scanner and a Windows Hello-compatible camera, but it includes a 5MP camera with a 2592×1944 resolution. It supports WiFi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, and has a 2.5 Gbit Ethernet port. The system is equipped with USB4-C (40Gbps), OCuLink (for external GPUs and other devices), HDMI 2.1, USB-C 10Gbps, and two USB-A (5Gbps) ports. GPD confirms the DUO has an 80 Wh battery, capable of charging up to 50% in 29 minutes. The company also claims the battery can last up to 30.2 hours when the screen is set to 150 nits, network and headphones are disconnected, and 1080p videos are played locally in silent mode.

At present, two details remain unconfirmed: the weight and the price. GPD has not given any clues about the price, but if it comes in under $1500, it would be very competitive. There is also no mention of a lower-end SKU like the Ryzen AI 9 365 being used, so the price will likely be determined by the memory and storage options.
