HP Announces Omen 16 2021 With Radeon RX 6000M Graphics

HP has announced their first 16-inch laptop under the Omen Series, the new HP Omen 16. Along with the 16-inch QHD screen upgrade, HP has made other significant changes too. The Omen 16 will have a Radeon RX 6000M graphics variant, thus making it the world’s first notebook to officially feature these graphics.

As per the press release, HP will offer the Omen 16 with either Intel Core i7-11800H or AMD Ryzen 9 5900HX CPUs. Consumers will also be given the option to choose their GPUs from NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Laptop GPU or unnamed AMD RDNA2 graphics. However, the press release did not mention whether users can combine Intel processors with AMD RDNA2 cards or vice versa.

Considering that the Omen 16 has RTX 3070 and high-end 8-core CPUs, the unnamed RDNA 2 graphics may be a high-end variant too. If this is the case, then the laptop might feature RX 6700M or RX 6600M graphics. Irrespective of the GPU model, the Omen 16 will be the first official RDNA2 gaming laptop. Moreover, HP has confirmed that Omen 16 supports Smart Access Memory (ResizableBAR) but did not mention anything about Smart Technology.

It is expected that AMD will announce Radeon RX 6000M mobile graphics series at the Computex keynote, which will be held in less than two weeks.

HP has confirmed that the Omen 16 will arrive in June and can be purchased through HP’s official website and BestBuy with a starting price of 1049 USD.
