HyperX Pulsefire Surge Gaming Mouse Review

Usage
The HyperX Pulsefire Surge has proven to be a very comfortable mouse in our testing. The very basic shape of the mouse doesn’t try to force your hand to sit in a certain way like some of the more extreme gaming mice do, which will really help this product be an option for more users. The slight contours found on the sides, left, and right mouse buttons are quite minimal while still providing an upgraded experience compared to an OEM design.

Most of our use of the Pulsefire Surge was in one of two categories; basic computer use and gaming. For standard web surfing and general application use, the Surge was more than capable of meeting our needs. It may seem like a pretty basic feature, but we still love using the forward and back buttons in web browsers to navigate in our web browser. When it comes to gaming, our DPI setting of choice is 1600D DPI, so a custom setting was created for that resolution before we got into the action. With the Surge ready to go, we hopped into our current favorite, Fortnite Battle Royale. We currently use the forward and backward buttons for building ramps and walls, and the placement of these two buttons on the Surge made building protection and vantage points very quick and easy.

Final Thoughts

With a current price tag of $69.99, we think the HyperX Pulsefire Surge is priced just right for the features it brings to the table. The Pixart 3389 sensor and Omrom switches offer great performance, as we found in our general use and gaming testing. The Surge can be paired up with HyperX’s NGenuity application to customize the DPI settings of the 3389 sensor with up to five settings.

Pulsefire Surge 18 Large

With regards to comfort, the basic, yet slightly contoured design of the Pulsefire Surge felt great in our hands, and offers a very comfortable base for palm-grip users. The 360-degree RGB LED light ring looks great, and each of the 33 individual LEDs can be adjusted to create the exact look for your style. This first mouse offering from HyperX is a hit as far as we are concerned, earning the Pulsefire Surge a 9 out of 10.
