iBUYPOWER Gamer Paladin E870 i7 Gaming System Review

Final Thoughts

[ad#review1062-top]This is our first system from iBUYPOWER and if you are weary about buying a system from them you shouldn’t be. Our system came in very good time and was built perfectly. If you look inside the system is very clean, iBUYPOWER did a great job with the cable management. You really never have to open the system up unless you are installing something new! iBUYPOWER also used quality components in this build, ASUS is one of the leading motherboard manufacturers out there and Corsair Dominator memory is some of the best out there. Usually you see some companies skim on these components; iBUYPOWER is not one of them.

I really like that iBUYPOWER did not load the system with a ton of extra software that I did not need, many custom builders do that and it’s annoying having to go in and uninstall everything. Another thing that I liked was that they system was ready to go out of the box; I didn’t have to install anything from the included CD’s. So when you get this system you can just plug it in and start using it.

As far as performance goes this system rocks! It can handle any game that is currently out, at very high settings too. Besides just running our game benchmarks on the system I also did quite a bit of gaming on the system. I played a lot of Crysis Warhead, Unreal Tournament 3, and FarCry 2. I didn’t have a single problem playing any of the games. They were all very smooth and the system didn’t lag at all. Besides gaming this system can handle other tasks like encoding video and playing HD movies. I was watching full 1080p trailers on the system and the CPU load stayed around 4-6%, which is pretty impressive!

I think that what it really comes down to is price. I made up pretty much the exact same system over at Newegg and the total came to $2357.98. That is of course without the Bumble Bee paint job on the case and the Internal USB Expansion System + Bluetooth module. I would say a custom paint job on the case would be around $150-200 and the USB expansion system would be around $40 with a Bluetooth module so you are almost breaking even. Also keep in mind that iBUYPOWER is building the system for you and installing the operating system so you don’t have to take the time out of your day to do all that. Also they do a great job at keeping the inside of the case clean with their cable management, something you may not do yourself.

The only problem I really had with this system was the paint job. There were some parts on the case, especially behind the top panel before the fans where it was not filled in. You could see some of the black of the original case coming through. Also there was not clear coat on the system, which would have given it a nice shiny finish.

Overall though this system is great for anyone looking for a new gaming rig, especially if you don’t want to built it. ThinkComputers gives the iBUYPOWER Gamer Paladin E870 i7 Gaming System a 9 out of 10 score.
