Intel Core i7-7700K Reaches 7 GHz Bench-Stable Overclock

Even though we are still a little over a week from the official release of the Intel Core i7-7700K “Kaby Lake” processor many people have got their hands on them. Once such person has been professional overclocker Allen “Splave” Golibersuch. He was able to break the 7 GHz barrier with the chip! Now this was however with HyperThreading and two of the four cores disabled.

The Intel Core i7-7700K was paired with the ASRock Z170 OC Formula motherboard. The chip was bench-stable at 7022.96 MHz, at the maximum base clock multiplier of 69x, and a base-clock of 101.78 MHz. Vcore voltage was quite high at 2.00V. The chip was able to crunch PiFast in 9.02 seconds, SuperPi 32M in 4 minutes 20.25 seconds, wPrime 32M in 2.953 seconds, and wPrime 1024M in 1 minute 33.171 seconds. With an ASUS GeForce GTX 1080 STRIX OC graphics card installed it scored 643,316 points in Aquamark, and 86,798 points in 3DMark 05.
