Intel Sapphire Rapids HEDT CPUs For W790 Chipset Will Now Launch in Q3 2022

The same Chinese leakster who shared the initial photos of the Intel LGA1700 socket and the Z690 chipset has some more information on the upcoming Alder Lake, Sapphire Rapids-X, and Raptor Lake series.

Intel HEDT Q3 2022

As per the rumor, Intel is expected to launch its W790 chipset for the high-end desktop (HEDT) series in Q3 2022. However, this opposes the roadmap Videocardz shared back in July. The leakster claims that the X699 chipset doesn’t exist, which will launch with the Alder Lake series, but there is a W790 (workstation) platform that will arrive at the same time as the 13th Gen Raptor Lake desktop series.

Intel has not released the new HEDT series since Cascade Lake-X, which debuted in 2019. If these rumors are true, then Sapphire Rapids-X will arrive after more than 3 years.

Another news is that Intel will launch its mid to high-end tier of 600 series in 2021. This contradicts previous rumors stating that the Z690 chipset will be launched this year, along with Intel 12th Gen K-series CPUs. The non-K series will supposedly have 100 MHz lower clock speeds than the K-series.

The launch of H670, B660, and H610 chipsets already in Q4 2021 suggests that Intel might want to launch the rest of the 12th Gen Core series earlier. Unfortunately, this isn’t confirmed by other sources or Enthusiastic Citizen.
