iQunix L80 Formula Wireless Mechanical Keyboard Review

iQunix L80 Formula Overview

Obviously with any of the L80 keyboards the first thing you are going to notice is the colorway and overall design of the keyboard. This is definitely one of the more interesting “premade” keyboards out there. One thing that I love about iQunix is that it is not just about the keycaps, the colorway is continued throughout the entire chassis of the keyboard.

For those wondering about the size and layout of the keyboard this is an 80% keyboard, but not your typical layout. The layout is more or less a crunched together version of a tenkeyless (TKL) keyboard making use of 83 keys, so it is about 10% smaller. So your arrow keys and the keys that would typically be above them are just moved over into the main area of the keyboard. With this you have a footprint that is slightly larger than a 60% keyboard, which people with limited desk space will definitely appreciate. For those wondering the official dimensions of the keyboard are 325 x 162 x 45 mm.

The chassis itself is made of plastic, but under that you do have a metal top plate. The keyboard does have some nice weight to it, which usually means a quality build. Also there is absolutely no flex in the keyboard, it feels solid. iQunix is making use of PBT keycaps on this keyboard, as I always say PBT keycaps are so much better than the typical ABS keycaps we see on a lot of keyboards. Not only do they feel better, but they do the wear or show shine. Under those keycaps we have our mechanical key switches, which in our case are Gateron Blue switches. These are made to mimic Cherry MX Blue switches and are a clicky switch really made for typists. iQunix offers the L80 with Gateron (Brown, Red, Blue), Cherry MX (Brown, Red, Blue, Pink, Silver), and TTC (Speed Silver, Gold Pink) mechanical key switches. One thing that is really cool about the L80 much like the A80 is that the switches themselves are hot-swappable. So if you wanted to try out a new set of switches later on you can easily swap them out, iQunix includes a switch puller to make the process pretty easy too.

Looking at the keyboard from the side we can see that it already sits at an angle, but with the pop-out feet you get two more levels of adjustment.

On the top-edge of the keyboard you’ll find the USB-C connection. Flipping the keyboard over we can see those pop-out feet, four more rubber feet to keep the keyboard from moving around on your desk, and a small switch to go between wired and wireless modes.
