iStorage DatAshur BT USB Flash Drive Review

Setup and Testing

To test the iStorage DATASHUR BT, we used a USB 3.2 Gen 1 port on our Z490 Aorus Master. The image used above was simply for the purpose of a decent image for this review as that is a USB 3.0 port. When we checked the Windows properties on our iStorage DATASHUR BT, we see that we have a 64 GB drive with 57.6 GB of usable storage. In some of the screenshots, the drive will be listed as the E or the F drive.

  • Benchmarks

  • Atto Disk Benchmark
  • AJA Systems
  • AS SSD
  • Crystal Disk Mark 5
  • USB Benchmark
  • ATTO Disk Benchmark

The ATTO Disk Benchmark utility was designed to measure regular disk drive performance. However, it’s more than capable of measuring both USB flash drive and SSD speeds as well. The utility measures disk performance rates for various sizes of files and displays the results in a bar chart showing read and write speeds at each file size. The results are displayed in megabytes per second. Results for the T-Force Spark in the ATTO Disk Benchmark are pictured below. For the ATTO Disk Benchmark, we showed results for both the sequential read and sequential write tests, as well as the IOPS test results.

AJA Systems
AJA Systems is a test that gives you throughput results for different types of video formats. The settings we used are the Red 4k HD footage, a 1 GB file size, and an 8bit YUV codec. The iStorage DATASHUR BTaveraged 160 MB/s on the read and 128 MB/s on the write on AJA Systems.

AS SSD Benchmark
AS SSD Benchmark is a simple and portable utility that helps you measure the effectiveness and performance of any solid-state (SSD) drives connected to your system. It will test “Seq”, “4K”, “4K-64Thrd” and Access Time. In the end, it will give your SSD a score. 4K tests the read/write abilities by access random 4K blocks while the Sequential test measures how fast the drive can read a 1GB file. In the AS SSD Benchmark, the iStorage DATASHUR BT achieved a sequential read speed of 160.52 MB/s and a sequential write speed of 126.70 MB/s. We have also included the copy benchmark results, as well as the compression benchmark results from AS SSD.

CrystalDiskMark 5.2.1
“CrystalDiskMark is designed to quickly test the performance of your hard drives. Currently, the program allows users to measure sequential and random read/write speeds.” In Crystal Disk Mark 5, the iStorage DATASHUR BT averaged 168.41 MB/s on the read speed and 133.57 MB/s on the write speed.

USB Flash Benchmark
The USB Flash Benchmark records transfer speeds of various different file sizes to the drive. The line graph in the screenshot show s the results of the USB Flash Benchmark for the iStorage DATASHUR BT.
