iStorage DatAshur BT USB Flash Drive Review

Final Thoughts

The iStorage DATASHUR BT is an excellent little drive. The iStorage DATASHUR BT hit right around its advertised speeds in pretty much every benchmark we ran with its lowest read speeds still being above the 160 MB/s speed and the write speeds staying all above 125 MB/s. The housing of the drive is metal, as well as the cap to the drive. This makes the iStorage DATASHUR BT far more durable than your average USB flash drive. I also like the ability to attach the iStorage DATASHUR BT to a keychain or lanyard. Especially since someone who purchases a drive with this kind of security features will most likely want to keep the drive close at hand.

Speaking of the security features on the iStorage DATASHUR BT this is what makes this drive shine in my opinion. I love the app that iStorage has developed for use with the DATASHUR BT. The app is very easy to set up and use. As a reviewer, I have dozens of USB flash drives just sitting in a bin on my desk and I can’t remember what’s on one of them, let alone 20 or so. It’s great to know that if I had the need to secure any data such as scans of my license or social security card, that I have somewhere to store such things that not just anyone can grab and look through. The best part of the software for the iStorage DATASHUR BT is it doesn’t require a desktop app on top of the mobile app to work. However, AES-XTS 256-bit full disk hardware encryption does come at a price. At the time of this review, the 64GB variant of the iStorage DATASHUR BT is available on Amazon for $120.80 USB for Prime customers. Now, this may sound like a lot for a 64 GB USB flash drive. But I feel the security features alone are worth the extra cost. Especially if you’re a writer or even a content creator, the extra cost for the iStorage DATASUR BT is worth the peace of mind knowing your work and or personal data is secured and can only be viewed by you. Overall, we give the 64GB version of the iStorage DATASHUR BT a 9 out of 10 for not only having speeds very close to its advertised speeds but for an easy-to-use app, as well as excellent security features.
