Kingston Workflow Station and Readers Review

Kingston Workflow Station and Readers Overview

Taking a first look at the Workflow Station it is definitely larger than your typical card reader or hub, but overall it is not that large so you should be able to find a place for it on your desk. For those wondering the official dimensions are 160.27 x 70.27 x 55.77 mm. On the front of the device there is a simple Kingston logo. On the opposite side you have your USB-C and power connections.

The unit itself has four opening in the top for the readers / hubs. Each one of these have a male USB-C connection for the hubs of course. So unlike many USB card readers and hubs you can install multiple different things to fit your needs, which is definitely a plus.

The main Workflow Station package come with the USB mini hub module. All of the modules are the same size, which can fit in the palm of your hand and have the same type of styling as the main unit. The USB mini hub module has two USB ports on it, one USB-C and one USB-A. On the bottom of each module us a female USB connection. This not only allows you to use the modules with the Workflow Station, but you can take them with you and connect them directly to your PC / laptop.

Kingston is currently offering two other modules that you can purchase separately. These include the SD Reader and MicroSD reader. The SD Reader includes two SD card slots and the microSD reader includes two microSD card slots. It would have been nice to see a combo module that had one of each. The separate modules each come with their own USB-C cables so if you did plan to use them on their own without the Workflow Station you can.
