Kingston XS2000 Portable Solid State Drive Review

Final Thoughts

The Kingston XS2000 is only the second USB 3.2 gen 2×2 portable solid state drive that we’ve tested. While it was slightly slower than the ADATA SE900G the speeds were very close to the advertised speeds of 2000 MB/s. In CrystalDiskMark we saw read speeds of 2035.02 MB/s and write speeds of 1799.84 MB/s. Remember USB 3.2 gen 2×2 basically doubles the speed over the previous generation so if you are looking for one of the fastest portable drives out there the XS2000 is definitely one of them.

One thing I really like about the XS2000 is just how small it is. It is definitely a drive that can easily fit in your pocket as it is not much larger than a typical USB flash drive. Also since it is mostly made of plastic it is quite light. The included rubbed sleeve adds a little more protection which is good as this is a portable drive.

The drive does not come with any software, security, or encryption features, but for most people that is just fine. Right now you can pick up the 1TB version of the drive that we reviewed here today at our favorite online retailer for $130.52, which is a great price. Overall ThinkComputers gives the Kingston XS2000 Portable Solid State Drive a 9 out of 10 score and our Recommended Award!
