Testing – Graphics & Gaming
To start off our graphics & gaming benchmarks we are going to go with 3DMark. This is the definitive benchmark for PC gamers. We will be running the Fire Strike demo on both normal and extreme settings.
Up next is the Sky Diver benchmark, which is specifically designed for gaming laptops and mid-range PC.
Moving on to our actual game tests we are going to start with Bioshock Ultimate. All of the game tests in the section will be run at 1080p (1920 x 1080) resolution. This game has a built-in benchmarking tool. We will be running the benchmark at “High”, “Very high”, and “Ultra” settings.
Next is Grand Theft Auto V, which also have a built-in benchmarking tool. Now it does not exactly have predefined graphics settings, but we set all of the available settings to “Normal”, “High”, and “Very High”.
Far Cry 4 is one of the most graphically intensive games to come out recently. Using FRAPS to record our frame rates we play a selection of the “Propaganda Machine” mission where we leave the base camp and run up to the radio tower. We take the same path each time. We ran this test on the “Low”, “Medium”, and “High” graphics presets.
Our last test is the brand new Star Wars Battlefront. Here we play 5 minutes of online gameplay and once again use FRAPS to record our frame rates. We ran this test at the “Medium”, “High”, and “Ultra” graphics settings.
