Lexar NQ100 480GB Solid State Drive Review

Final Thoughts

If you are still booting from a traditional hard drive or even have your game drive as one you really should make the switch to a solid state drive. The Lexar NQ100 makes this a very easy decision as it is priced quite well. The 480GB version that we reviewed today is $49.99, while the 960GB version is $87.99. With prices like you can easily upgrade a few of your older drives. You’ll not only see faster boot-up times but also faster loading time for games.

While not much is know about Lexar’s DM928 controller it seems to get the job done and without the need for DRAM cache. In our testing the drive performed right up to specifications and we really did not encounter any issues with the drive. For examples in CrystalDiskMark we saw sequential speeds of 560.66 MB/s read and 480.86 MB/s write. In ATTO Disk Benchmark we saw similar results of 537 MB/s read and 470 MB/s write.

I think if you are looking to replace an older hard drive the Lexar NQ100 is a great and inexpensive choice. Now Lexar does back the drive with a 3-year warranty, but it would have been nice to see a 5-year warranty. Overall ThinkComputers gives the Lexar NQ100 480GB Solid State Drive a 9 out of 10 score.
