M1 iMac Crushes Apple’s Previous-Generation Intel Based iMac in Benchmark Scores

The recently spotted benchmark scores of M1 iMac on Geekbench 5 prove that Apple’s M1 iMac is a significant improvement over the previous-generation 21.5-inch iMac (Intel) in terms of performance. The multi-core also shows that Apple’s custom chip is a solid improvement over the previously used Intel processors.

The benchmark result had a single and a multi-core score. The M1 iMac outperforms the 21.5-inch Intel iMac by 24 percent in single-core performance while crushing it by a margin of 56 percent in the multi-core category. The performance is great, but it is heartbreaking to know that the redesigned iMac cannot beat the high-end 27-inch iMac, which comes with Intel’s 10th-generation processor. However, the lower-end variants of 27-inch come nowhere near the M1-based iMac. It also means one should opt for the 24-inch iMac, which is cheaper and offers better performance.

The iMac may perform even better in the future as the news suggests that Apple will bring its best chip, M1X or M2, later during 2021.
