Samsung Announces Gaming-Grade OLED Notebook Display Panels

Samsung Display has announced that their laptop OLED has been certified for gaming performance by the world’s leading certification company, SGS. The certified OLED screen is used in Galaxy Book Pro and Galaxy Book Pro 360. As per the SGS results, the Samsung OLED showed a blur length of 1.4 mm and a moving picture response time of below 15.4 ms.

LCD-based laptop, on the other hand, with identical specifications, showed a maximum of 2.1 mm blur length and a 26.4 ms moving picture response time. These two quantities play an important role in dynamic and fast-paced action games. Moreover, the HDR contrast ratio was 1,000,000:1.

As per Samsung Display, a display with a long blur length degrades the image of fast-paced games which require high performance. However, OLED displays offer a wide range of contrast which provides a more immersive experience.

As people spend more time at home, laptop has become the go-to device not only for web-surfing and word-processing but also for watching movies and sports game and playing video games,” Choi Soon-ho, director at Samsung Display said. “OLED is the very display that could meet consumers’ various needs”
