Usage & Final Thoughts on the MCHOSE x Unbox Therapy UT98 Mechanical Keyboard
I’ve been using the MCHOSE x Unbox Therapy UT98 keyboard for the past couple of weeks and I have really been enjoying it. Positioned as mainly a productivity keyboard you are going to find the 98% layout with numberpad and comfort of this keyboard perfect for all of your productivity needs. I spent many long hours using this keyboard, including writing this review and I could really “get into the zone” of a sort of flow state, which is something I really do look for in a keyboard because of course I spend a lot of time in front of my computer.
The Icy Creamsicle linear mechanical key switches were very responsive and as I mentioned they are very comfortable. Of course if linear is not your thing you can get this keyboard with the silent Peach V3 switches. Using the linear switches the sound profile of this keyboard is great. This has a lot to do with 5 layers of sound dampening that MCHOSE is using here. Below is a sound test using this keyboard.
One thing I did not mention about this keyboard is the actual battery, which is 10,000 mAh. This is one of the largest batteries that I’ve seen on a keyboard and MCHOSE says this will give you up to 909 hours, which is quite impressive.
Now this keyboard is not perfect. It is mainly made of plastic, which does give it some flex. But it does still feel solid overall.
Beyond just the keyboard itself MCHOSE has also released a MCHOSE x Unbox Therapy Mouse Pad ($49) which is 800mm x 300mm and features the Unbox Therapy logo and hat. As well as a MCHOSE x Unbox Therapy Wrist Rest ($49) which is made of PORON foam padding and has a polyester fabric finish on it.
We haven’t seen too many collabs with brands and creators, but I feel this is a really solid one. It is great to see a brand work with a creator to make something that they actually want and you’ll likely want as well. If you are looking for a very solid keyboard that is comfortable, sounds great, and is made for productivity this one should be on your list.
