MSI Shows First Motherboard with USB 3.1 and C-Type Connector

MSI showed us a new motherboard that they are working on, the Z97A Gaming 6. It will be their first motherboard to make use of USB 3.1 and use the new C-Type USB connector. The new C-Type USB connector is reversible, which means you can use either end in both your motherboard and whichever peripheral you are using with the motherboard.

The Z97A Gaming 6 is more or less the MSI Z97 Gaming 5 with USB 3.1 and the new C-Type connector. It will feature an 8-phase VRM, 3 PCI-Express 3.0 x16 slots, 4 PCI-Express 2.0 x1 slots, Killer Ethernet LAN port, M.2, SATA Express and more. Being part of the gaming series it has the black and red gaming styling we are using to seeing from MSI.

As far as USB 3.1 goes MSI showed us a demo of USB 3.0 vs USB 3.1. The top photo you see below is USB 3.0 and the bottom is USB 3.1. You can see there is about a 250 MB/s performance boost.

This motherboard will be coming from MSI in the near future and will have a price tag around $160.
