When it comes to laptops you typically can go for a thin and light laptop which ends up being underpowered, or a rather large laptop which has more than enough power, but is something you typically don’t want to travel with. I feel like the MSI Stealth 16 AI+ B3WF is a very nice in-between. With the Intel Core Ultra 9 386H, NVIDIA RTX 5060 laptop GPU, and 32GB of DDR5-5600 memory it is definitely more than powerful enough. In our testing at 1920 x 1200 resolution the gaming performance was excellent at well over 100 FPS. Even at 2560 x 1600 was saw great performance, for example Cyberpunk 2077 at the High preset and DLSS set at balanced we achieved an average FPS 67.92, which is really impressive.
You would expect a 16-inch gaming laptop to be quite heavy and not something you would want to travel with, but the MSI Stealth 16 AI+ B3WF is one of the thinnest gaming laptops that I’ve used. At only 4.4 lbs it is not extremely heavy either. The rounded edges all around make it slide into a laptop backpack or sleeve really easily too. The whole time I’ve used this laptop its never felt like I was lugging around a 16-inch gaming laptop.
One of my favorite features of this laptop has to be the display. The 16-inch QHD+ 240 Hz OLED that MSI has gone with is extremely vibrant and bright. This means that not only are your games going to look awesome, but if you are watching media its going to look amazing as well. The 240 Hz refresh rate is great for fluid visuals, especially if you plan on playing fast-paced FPS titles like Counter-Strike or Apex Legends. The display is also 100% DCI-P3 and Delta e < 1, making it suitable for content creation and color-critical work. Even though this is a glossy screen I did not have any issues with reflections in sunlight or our studio lights.
If you plan to use the keyboard on the laptop and not attach a dedicated gaming keyboard you are going to enjoy the experience a lot. The keys themselves are large, have a great feel, and in my opinion offer more travel than what I’ve experienced on other gaming laptops. The RGB backlighting is a nice touch too! Having both a full-size HDMI port and Ethernet port are ideal since this is of course a gaming laptop. On top of that you have the two Thunderbolt 4 Type-C ports and two USB-A ports so for the most part you won’t be needed a dongle here.
While you may think of this as a gaming laptop it can do so much more than that too. Having the Intel Core Ultra 9 386H, RTX 5070 Laptop GPU, and 32GB of DDR5 means this machine is no slouch. Video and photo editing can be done no problem and you can take advantage of GPU acceleration for both of those. The 16-inch display and comfortable keyboard and great for coding. When it comes to AI tasks you of course have the horse-power and AI cores of the built-in GPU to run models locally, but even simple things like AI-noise cancellation for calls is done effortlessly with the MSI Stealth 16 AI+ B3WF.
I travel a lot, but I am also a gamer and for me this laptop seems to really fit into my everyday life. It can handle the latest titles at both 1080P and 1140P, has the beautiful screen, the keyboard is great, and it is not cumbersome to take with me places. So whether you are traveling or taking this laptop back and forth to the office you will be pleasantly surprised by the performance and just how much this laptop does not feel like a clunky gaming laptop. It slides easily into my laptop backpack and even taking it out I don’t feel like it is this massive machine that is only meant to sitting in place on my desk. If anything the laptop gets a bit loud when you are gaming, but what laptop doesn’t? Right now you can pick this laptop up at Best Buy for $2699.99, which may seem a bit expensive, but the currently memory crisis and AI surge doesn’t help that pricing at all.
