Testing – Sandra & ATTO
Keep in mind for testing the advertised speeds for this drive are 7175 MB/s read and 6800 MB/s write.
Our first test is SiSoftware Sandra’s Physical Disks benchmark. We run both the read performance test.
ATTO Disk Benchmark measures transfer rates across specific lengths. ATTO uses RAW data, our transfer sizes ranged from 0.5 to 8192kb. ATTO is usually our definitive benchmark for solid state drives.
Looking at the results above we can see something is happening with the drive. About 50% through the drive our write score decreases significantly. This is typically a sign of thermal throttling. To test this we ran the drive with our motherboard’s M.2 heatsink installed (we also run M.2 drives as they come, so no heatsink with this one). Looking at the results after using a heatsink we can see that the drive was indeed thermal throttling.
