Nintendo Switch Pro Will Support 4K Gaming

In late August, the rumors circulated that Nintendo was developing Switch Pro Console that will act as a Flagship to their current lineup of Switch and Switch lite. Further evidence in the form of a report appeared today, stating that Nintendo is allegedly planning to increase Switch production by 20% to meet demand.

The Bloomberg report states that Nintendo has raised its production target to 30 million units from the previous 25 million units target for the current fiscal year. The report also had hidden references to several game developers stating that Nintendo has asked them to make their games 4K ready. The game developers wished to stay anonymous though.

Although it is not specified what 4K ready means, whether the game is 4k native or 4k upscaled? however, it confirms the report that Nintendo Switch Pro will support 4k gaming. Kantan Games analyst Dr. Serkan Toto also said that Nintendo would indeed launch Nintendo Switch Pro with 4k support, bigger cartridge size, better components at a price tag of $399.

The latest reports suggest that Nintendo will launch the Switch Pro in early 2021, to counter the Xbox Series X/Xbox Series S and PlayStation 5. However, it will also put Nintendo in a difficult situation concerning the price as Microsoft has already announced the price for Xbox Series S which is $299. The standard Switch costs the same too.
