NVIDIA could be planning to introduce a graphics card positioned between RTX 3070 and RTX 3080

NVIDIA is facing the heat right now. After the stock issues that came following the NVIDIA RTX 3000 release, AMD’s next-generation GPUs are showing a lot of pressure. It looks like NVIDIA could be introducing another fresh graphics card positioned between the RTX 3070 and RTX 3080 to dampen the possible damage from AMD’s next-gen GPUs.

It looks like this will be a new SKU, using a unique variant of the Ampere GA102 GPU. The leak came from kopite7kimi4virgil on Twitter:

The SKU will run on the GA102-150-KD-A1 GPU, with 7,424 CUDA cores in 58 streaming multiprocessors (29 TPCs), 232 tensor cores, 232 TMUs, 58 RT cores, with the ROP number unknown. The memory will be configured in a 320-bit bus.

AMD’s Radeon RX 6000 series does look very promising. The latest alleged Radeon RX 6800XT benchmarks show it outperforming the RTX 3080 in all 4K tests, except ray tracing, where it lags by a little bit.

NVIDIA could price this SKU between the RTX 3070 and the RTX 3080. This would put the price between $500-$700. We should be hearing more about this card, soon.
