NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Now Listed With GDDR6X Memory

There have been rumors that the GeForce RTX 3060 will be offered in 8GB, but no one had specified this SKU receiving a faster memory type. Recently, we reported that a UK store is getting ready to sell the RTX 3060 Ti Founders Edition with GDDR6X memory, which confirms earlier rumors.

If this listing for “Lenovo RTX 3060 12GB GDDR6X” from a Slovakian reseller is accurate, it will imply that the RTX 3060 non-Ti would follow suit with faster memory.

A memory improvement to the GDDR6X standard would most likely result in two things: increased memory speed and bandwidth, but also higher TDP. However, neither of these features appears to be included in the Slovakian retailer’s stated specifications. The boost clock remains at 1.78 GHz, and the maximum power consumption appears to be the same at 170W.

A simple check of the product code reveals that it is compatible with the Lenovo RTX 3060 GDDR6 SKU. As a result, one may infer that this is merely a retailer mistake or a memory swap on an existing part. Based on recent rumors, both options are equally plausible.
