NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER Modded To Support 26 Gbps Memory Beats RTX 4080 In Synthetic Test

Recently, a small competition occurred in Brazil between the Paulo Gomes and TecLab teams. Paulo Gomes is recognized for GPU repairs, frequently involving non-standard memory modifications, whereas TecLab is an overclocking team famed for numerous world records. What might not be widely known is that both teams also collaborate with graphics card companies: Paulo Gomes with Manli and TecLab with GALAX.

The competition involved equipping the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER with faster memory and overclocking it to its limits. This new NVIDIA GPU comes with 21 Gbps memory by default, which is not the fastest available (the RTX 4080 SUPER currently features 22.4 Gbps memory). Both teams decided to replace the 4070 Ti SUPER’s memory with faster modules to observe the results.

The Paulo Gomes team overclocked the memory to 24 Gbps, achieving 8870 points in the Superposition 8K benchmark, matching the score of the RTX 4080. The TecLab team had even greater success, exceeding 26 Gbps.

It’s important to note that this memory upgrade involves more than just a physical swap; it requires modifying the board itself. Each GPU needs to be configured to support faster memory through specific straps. Although both teams have the knowledge to do this, making the process relatively straightforward for them, it is not something that just anyone can accomplish.

Additionally, both cards were tested using their stock triple-fan coolers, with no exotic cooling methods. This demonstrates that the graphics cards can handle faster memory with standard cooling solutions.

Rumors suggest that the next-gen GeForce RTX 50 series GPUs will feature faster memory, potentially reaching up to 28 Gbps, thanks to newer GDDR7 technology. These tests indicate that a memory upgrade alone can significantly enhance performance in the next generation of gaming GPUs.
